Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has warned that the Indian Army is always ready for war in the border areas. On Thursday (March 7) local media NDTV’s defense summit, he uttered such a warning to China.
Rajnath Singh said, we always have to be ready for war. Even in times of peace we have to prepare for war. But we have not attacked anyone yet, nor have we occupied anyone’s land.
“But if someone attacks us, we will definitely respond.” Anyone who attacks India by water, land or air will have to suffer the consequences.’

Rajnath Singh’s comments come at a time when China is trying to increase its military presence around India. Meanwhile, China’s military presence in the Maldives has multiplied the worries of the Modi government. India’s concern about the Maldives as well as China has increased since pro-Chinese leader Mohamed Muijju came to power in the island nation.
At the conference, Rajnath Singh highlighted the importance of preparing for war in view of the multiple challenges that India is facing in various directions. He also spoke about India’s ongoing tensions with China in Kashmir and Ladakh. Indian and Chinese troops have been facing each other for nearly four years after the border clashes in eastern Ladakh.
India’s opposition parties have alleged that China has occupied 2,000 square kilometers of Indian land in eastern Ladakh since the conflict. But the ruling BJP claims that no land in India is under the possession of China. However, the question of the opposition is that if there is no land in the possession of China, then why the two countries are still discussing the border location. Even today, the Modi government has not been able to give a clear answer to this complaint of the opposition.

Meanwhile, Maldives has signed a defense agreement with China to increase the area of ’military cooperation’ amid the tense situation. The deal is seen as an attempt by the South Asian country to break out of the Indian enclave.
Sino-Indian relations have deteriorated sharply since the bloody clashes in eastern Ladakh in 2020. India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has repeatedly mentioned the deterioration and said that relations will not be normal if the border situation is not normal. It is wrong to expect that.
