“The Trump administration has shown great commitment to our peace agenda. What should be commended is Trump’s immediate reciprocity and full engagement.”
Publika.az reports with reference to Telegraf that Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, told The Washington Post.
The state official noted with regret that Azerbaijan had many misunderstandings with the administration of Biden and Blinken, and they caused considerable damage to relations.
H. Hajiyev added that during the first term of office of Donald Trump, the administration played an important role in delivering Caspian gas to the European market through the Southern Gas Corridor project.
The publication’s article stated that Azerbaijan strengthens economic interdependence with Armenia by facilitating the export of oil products and the transportation of grain to Armenian markets.
“It may seem symbolic, but in addition to symbolism, there are really important geopolitical meanings. We are making peace not only with the Armenian government, but also with the Armenian people,” Hikmat Hajiyev commented on the matter.
The presidential assistant also said that we have Jewish communities and Christian communities that have lived alongside Muslim communities for centuries:
“This is our tradition, our identity. We have a stronger commitment to our peace agenda and we have the full support of the Trump administration.”
