No. Huawei has not recovered past agreements. But it is confirmed that its new HiSilicon Kirin 9006c chip is 5 nanometers and is not made by SMIC but by TSMC.

The problems of Huawei to access the latest technologies available in the electronic sector, we all already know them, and that’s how it is US veto remains in effect no matter how some restrictions have been eased and the Shenzhen giant was even able to release some devices with 5G connectivity without ending last year 2023.
For several months now we have been talking about SMIC’s secret to creating the 14 nanometer HiSilicon Kirin 9000S with performance similar to a 7 nanometer chipset thanks to double pattern engraving, even if in recent weeks we have seen another Huawei stunt to “skip” the restrictions presenting us a chipset with 5 nanometer technology which they really shouldn’t have access to.
Regard HiSilicon Kirin 9006c which was mounted on the Qingyun L450 laptop launched in China, and on which a Tech Insights report revealed precisely this important detail, namely that It is not made in China by SMIC but by the banned TSMC with 5 nanometer lithography.
So what’s the secret now? Where’s the trap?
Well, as friends at GizChina confirmed in a recently published article, the new HiSilicon Kirin 9006c has no the latest technology that SMIC is already working in provide Huawei with 5-nanometer chips, nor was it the result of some strange or secret way to avoid limitations imposed on the company led by Ren Zhengfei.
Actually, the Kirin 9006c which was incorporated into the Qinguyan L450 it certainly isn’t anyone SoC new invoicebut these are remnants of action that Huawei had in its warehouses and which were renamed even though they were TSMC chips were shut down in 2020 and delivered to Huawei before the international block.
The new HiSilicon Kirin 9006c with 5 nanometer technology is actually a 2020 chip produced and delivered at the time by TSMC, which has not renewed any agreement with a Huawei which seems to only be using the remnants of the stocks it had left.
We are therefore simply faced with another distraction maneuver and/or a flight forward for Huaweiwhich continues to await the evolution of the SMIC to have Ever better chipsets made 100% in China and free of limitations. However, for now, the only reality is Huawei You will still be able to only have 7 nanometer processors of new invoice.
In fact, it has already emerged previously that the Nova 12 series with the Kirin 8000 actually masks a scaled down version of the old Kirin 9000.
