Vienna (OTS) – “The financial forecast is a forecast for 2024 and the figures show that the Austrian health insurance fund has taken the right course. Although the funds from the financial equalization will only flow to the ÖGK in March, numerous improvements have already been made for the 7.5 million insured people in implementation. For example, the tendering process for the 100 new health insurance offices has already begun, as has the inclusion of clinical psychology in the catalog of services. Approximately EUR 1.3 billion in additional output in 2023 compared to 2022 will result from the increasing number of patients and more frequent visits to the doctor: The ÖGK and its contracted doctors provide more services to their customers than ever before. Overall, expenditure on services from 2020 (14.9 billion euros) to 2023 (18.4 billion euros) increased by around 3.5 billion euros or 22 percent. It is therefore clear that the funds from the financial equalization are included in the forecast. The corresponding expenses for the funds are also shown in the forecast. It is regrettable that the employee curia prefers to abuse the health insurance fund for its election campaign and put the health of the insured at risk for party political interests instead of taking part in constructive cooperation,” said Moritz Mitterer, chairman of the employer curia at the ÖGK general meeting Federal Managing Director of the Economic Association on the SPÖ’s allegations.
