The opening of the Water Sports Center built by Kocasinan Municipality on the shores of the Yamula Dam in Kayseri was held. Speaking at the opening, Kayseri Governor Gökmen Çiçek said, “Kayseri is moving to a completely different point in water sports.”
Kayseri Governor Gökmen Çiçek, Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Memduh Büyükkılıç, Kayseri Deputy Governor Ömer Tekeş, Kocasinan District Governor İlhan Abay, Kocasinan Mayor Ahmet Çolakbayrakdar, Provincial Police Chief Atanur Aydın, Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Ali İhsan Kabakcı, protocol members and citizens attended the opening ceremony of Kuşçu Marina Social Facilities, which was put into the service of the citizens by Kocasinan Municipality.
Speaking at the program that started after a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, Kocasinan Mayor Ahmet Çolakbayrakdar said, “The necessary activities for the competitions to be held here have started. Hopefully, from now on, water sports will be able to be done in Kayseri on our dam lake in a very nice way. A qualified facility with all kinds of equipment, not a simple facility. We are opening a real facility today. May it be blessed, may we use it in good times. It is not easy to carry out these works with the efforts of our governor, his team or just me and my team. I would like to open a parenthesis from here to our fellow citizens of Kayseri. If it is said that social life will be revived in the city, that all kinds of activities can be done legitimately, that families, women, young people, men, children, in other words, everyone can come and go comfortably in our world, do sports, and do events, then we, as the metropolitan municipality, us and our governorship, are doing what is necessary to make all these areas available for the use of the city. But for them to survive, it means the city participating. For them to come to life, it means that all families can take ownership of this work,” he said.
“Kayseri continues to be the center of sports”
Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Memduh Büyükkılıç, who stated that Kayseri continues to be the center of sports as well as trade and industry, said, “We are all working together to revitalize this region, to make this region livable, to revitalize this region with its roads, green areas, forests, and of course Kızılırmak, which is very valuable to us. We are trying to revitalize it with the efforts of our Kocasinan Mayor and the support that our governor has given us without letting on. Our Mayor has really done great work here without sparing any effort and continues to do so. We call it ‘Kayseri a city of trade and industry’. However, we also call it a city of tourism. In addition, it continues to be the center of sports. We continue our efforts to make it one of the few sports cities in the world.”
“Kayseri is moving to a completely different point in water sports”
Kayseri Governor Gökmen Çiçek also said, “There are really magnificent things happening in Kayseri. Now, completely different things are being done in water sports in Kayseri. During this 1-month period, the rafting area on Zamantı River in Yahyalı was officially registered, rafting championships and rafting tourism were opened. Right after that, whitewater canoeing was registered in Tomarza 1 week later. It was registered in the Federation’s records. The championship started. An agency took office there as well and the work continues. Now, the real center for water sports, Yamula Water Sports Center is being opened. Kayseri is moving to a completely different point in water sports. Really good things are happening in Kayseri. Good things are being done in every field.”
