“Water for the Chaco”, a plan that must involve everyone

The governor of Alto Paraguay, Arturo Méndez, stated that the aqueducts that have been built so far have not benefited his department, which is why he asked that the plan called “Water for the Chaco” be comprehensive and comprehensive, with the aim of marking a significant difference in the entire Western region.

He said that “this should be a project that benefits everyone. Until now, the aqueduct projects have not benefited Alto Paraguay, not to mention that they have not been well prepared because they do not reach where they should: Loma Plata and the central Chaco.”

He thus regretted the inefficiencies made previously regarding the possibility of making the Paraguayan Chaco drinkable, pointing out the importance of continuing to socialize the project both with the departmental authorities, as well as with the population itself.

He added that “with the governor of Boquerón, Harold Bergen, we have talked about the scope of the Agua para el Chaco project. What we want to aim for is to comprehensively cover the communities of Alto Paraguay, as they had not been guaranteed before.”

He insisted on “the importance of continuing to contribute to the implementation of the plan, pointing to coordinated work not only between the departmental authorities and the Government, but also with the communities themselves that could access transcendental changes in their lifestyle.”

“The benefit must reach everyone, from indigenous communities, small producers, to various groups,” said Méndez.

The Water for Chaco plan provides for the construction of an aqueduct, with an extension of 280 km and a maximum budget of 250 million dollars.
