The US will develop a strategy dedicated to the Black Sea region by June of this year, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken declared this Wednesday during a US Senate committee hearing on appropriations.
«We will create this strategy. “I think there is actually a deadline, in June, in the legislation and we will create it by then,” Blinken said.
In his words, the document “will focus not only on security aspects, but also on promoting political interaction and promoting economic cooperation, including enhanced energy security.”

The Secretary of State indicated that six countries have access to the sea, three of which are members of NATO and “others, like Ukraine, are obviously important friends for the United States.” In that context, he highlighted that the US maintained consultations with its allies in the region, some of whom contributed to the creation of the strategy.
Blinken noted that US authorities are now focusing on “a much more comprehensive approach” to the region, whose territory is larger than the state of California, he added. With RT
