Warning: It will rain again. And the problem in the south of Bohemia! The Austrian criticized the closing of the door in front of the firemen

  • As of Sunday 7:00 p.m firefighters and other components of the integrated rescue system intervened in 1,932 emergency incidents, in total, since the beginning of the flood, they have dealt with 7,884 incidents.
  • Over 12,000 people were evacuated.
  • Minister of the Interior Vít Rakušan (STAN) again appealed to citizens in threatened locations to follow the instructions of the firefighters and not to refuse evacuation.
  • On the night of Monday, the rain will once again spread over the entire territory of the Czech Republic, said Environment Minister Petr Hladík (KDU-ČSL).
  • In southern Bohemia, the rain will not stop even on Tuesday and Wednesday. There is a threat of further flooding there.
  • According to the minister, there is still a risk of landslides. Hladík also drew attention to the continued threat of tree falls, urged citizens not to go to forests and parks.

According to Minister of the Interior Vít Rakušan (STAN), even preventive evacuation is better than having people wait for the help of a rescue helicopter in bad weather conditions, because there are more emergency situations where rescue services are needed in many parts of the country.

According to the Austrian, firemen, police and rescuers are primarily supposed to save lives. “Everything else has to wait, and the people who call the components of the integrated rescue system also have to take this into account,” said the Austrian on Sunday after the meeting of the flood commission, adding that the second task is to get the materials that people urgently need to the cut-off areas.

“A total of over 12,000 people have already been evacuated. We again ask everyone to follow the fire department’s instructions and not to refuse to evacuate. Today I saw with my own eyes in Frýdlantska people, coming out of properties that were partially under water, closing the doors in front of the firemen who came to address them. “They really don’t do it to deprive them of their rights in any way, they do it to save their lives, they do it so that they don’t have to return to the same place in much more difficult conditions, where they then fight many times for their own lives,” he said. on the Austrian evening press.

“I would like to tell the brave man in a half-length swimsuit, who jumped into the flooded water in Otrokovice, that his act was not an admirable adventure, but the ultimate stupidity and that the Police of the Czech Republic is currently dealing with all the video recordings and he will certainly be identified very soon,” the Austrian also pointed out.

No more going to parks and forests. And it will rain again

“During the night and on Monday, the rain will spread over the entire territory, it will rain again in Moravia, where it did not rain today,” Minister of the Environment Petr Hladík pointed out (KDU-ČSL) on the evening press. “Larger precipitation can be expected in the southwest, South Bohemia in particular may be a very trying part of the republic right nowbecause the rain will not stop there either on Tuesday or on Wednesday,” warned Hladík.

“It has already rained more than 500 millimeters in Jesenice, 400 in the Krkonoše Mountains, 300 in the Jizera and Beskydy Mountains, everywhere else between 100 and 200 millimeters. There is still a risk of landslides, I want to draw attention to that, this is a very important thing, even if the rain stops,” the minister pointed out. He also warned against the uprooting of trees.

“I strongly urge all citizens of the Czech Republic not to go to forests or parks anymore, because there is a risk of falling treesfalling branches, injuries, possibly even death,” pointed out Hladík.

A problem in the south of Bohemia

“The most difficult areas are in the south of Bohemia, where unfortunately the rain continued all day today and the situation in the Lužnice basin is very serious. Although we manage to transform part of that stream into the Rožmberk pondwhere we had up to 10 million cubic meters ready, so all this is not enough. Anti-flood measures under the Rožmberk pond, i.e. they are in the area of Veselí nad Lužnicí, Soběslav, Sezimova Ústí built as standard for a 50-year flood and we are not sure at the moment if we will be able to comply with thisor whether during the second half of today and tomorrow morning we will not get above this level and these anti-flood measures will not be overcome,” warned Minister of Agriculture Marek Výborný in a press release after the meeting of the crisis staff (KDU-ČSL).

According to the Austrian, cooperation with hygiene stations and the Ministry of Health also continues intensively. Mayors should receive hygiene rules for the public on Monday. The minister drew attention to the need to pay attention to increased hygiene in flooded areas, as there may be contaminated water or food in them.

The Austrian will be the government on Monday to inform about the activities of the Central Crisis Staff and the work of rescuers. According to him, it is also necessary to talk about securing regional and senate elections, which are to take place on Friday and Saturday. He also wants to talk about setting up communication with local authorities. According to the Austrian, the cabinet is ready to help the people who were fatally affected by the flood.
