With images of beautiful, hot hotgirls and sweet words, many men in Gia Lai province have ‘fallen into the trap’ of online prostitution, hiding in the shadow of high-tech fraud.
Defrauded of billions
Currently, on the social networking site Facebook, there are many fanpages running advertisements for prostitution services. These pages introduce images of many beautiful hotgirls, accompanied by “winged” offers of private, prestigious, special services that can serve customers across the country.
To really understand how these online prostitution sites work, in the role of a customer in Pleiku city (Gia Lai province) wanting to “find something strange”, the reporter (Reporter) sent a message to an online advertising site. She had sex online and was instructed to make friends to exchange through the social network Telegram for the reason of information security for both parties.
After switching to the Telegram application as instructed, an account named “Assistant Hong Nhung” in the role of “madam” contacted the customer asking for personal information. After knowing that the customer was in Pleiku city, this “madam” sent pictures of 9 beautiful young girls dressed coolly for the customer to choose from.
The reporter chose a girl from the list of 9 people, just a few minutes later an account named “Be Thanh” sent text messages as well as voice messages with a quite sweet voice and a few sensitive photos to invite and invite her. price down.
The account “Be Thanh” offers promotional information for “first-time” guests with very attractive prices of 500,000 VND/120 minutes and 1.5 million VND if guests choose to “stay overnight”.
After the two sides agree on the price, “Be Thanh” requires the PV to register with the original assistant to get the system’s QR code to register as a member to use the service and have its own incentives. The code creation fee is 170 thousand VND. After successfully registering the code, the system will refund the paid amount. Each QR code is valid for 6 months.
Many men in Gia Lai province were scammed out of billions of dong.
The reporter gave the excuse that he was busy and would contact him later, but “Baby Thanh” kept texting and offering many pornographic clips to entice her.
After successful access, the above prostitution accounts will appropriate the property of men who are greedy for money by sending links to do tasks and receive commissions.
In the case of Mr. D.HT (residing in Pleiku city), he became friends with an account that posted a picture of a beautiful girl named “Do Lien”.
After an intimate conversation, this account invited Mr. T. to do tasks to receive commissions through a link. After the first profits, the subject gave reasons such as the balance in the account was not enough to complete the task and needed to pay more money otherwise it would be frozen and unable to withdraw.
Believing the subject’s words, Mr. T. transferred money 5 times to the bank account given by the subject with a total amount of nearly 700 million VND.
The subject is abroad so it is difficult to handle
Talking to reporters, Lieutenant Colonel Dinh Van Son, Deputy Head of Cyber Security and Crime Prevention using high technology, Gia Lai Provincial Police said: “These online prostitution advertising sites are all Cheat. The advertised girls are not real, but are just random images copied by the subject on the internet and then posted.
The audience instructs customers to use Telegram because this is a social network that is very easy to use without requiring identification, so it is guaranteed, encrypted with high confidentiality, and difficult to trace. Subjects often show pictures of beautiful girls but very low prices to attract men “hungry for strange things”, then registering a QR code is just the first step.
Many people find the amount of only 160-170 thousand VND insignificant so they are ready to transfer. But after that, the subject will lead the way to perform the task to enjoy incentives and make great profits, causing the victim to transfer larger amounts of money many times and then appropriate it.”
According to statistics from the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of Gia Lai Provincial Police, with the trick of appealing to the desires of “men”, the subjects have defrauded a huge amount of money.
Only from 2023 up to now, the unit has received 10 reports of being defrauded by subjects in the form of online prostitution with the amount appropriated amounting to more than 4.3 billion VND, the least case being Defrauded of 120 million VND, maximum up to 1.5 billion VND.
Mr. NML (residing in Pleiku city) knows an account named “Luong Thi My Phuong” whose profile photo is quite beautiful. After texting to get to know each other, the subject sent Mr. L. a link to vote and rate images of sexy women to receive commissions. But to vote, Mr. L. must transfer some money to the subject.
Initially, the subject paid a commission to Mr. L. to build trust. Seeing a profit, Mr. L. transferred even larger amounts of money. But then, the subject reported that his transaction was erroneous, giving many different reasons. If he wanted to withdraw money, he needed to transfer more money for verification. In total, the victim transferred 1.2 billion VND to the subjects. and was appropriated.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Dinh Van Son, the initial subjects preyed on the psychology of some men who like beautiful women and “crave for strange things”. Then, the target blindly preys on their greed to lure them into transferring large amounts of money.
Most of these men who contacted the subjects were alone. Some are in a state of alcohol so they lack alertness and are easily “psychologically manipulated” by the subjects, falling into the traps they have set.
“First, people need to have a healthy and civilized lifestyle. When interacting in cyberspace, you need to equip yourself with knowledge and skills to avoid falling into a spiral of fraud. Because currently, traditional criminals tend to turn to high-tech crimes that take advantage of cyberspace. Through tracing, these subjects are all abroad, so it is difficult to investigate and arrest. When most victims discover and report to the authorities, it is quite late. The subjects have transferred money to a third account, so it is very difficult to recover,” Lieutenant Colonel Son warned.
