“To restore serenity around the theme and everyone involved, VTM 2, together with Astrid, Natalia and the production house, has decided to no longer broadcast the program,” channel VTM 2 said in a press release. In that program, BV’s Astrid Coppens and Natalia Druyts were taken out of their luxurious lives. They moved together to a modest home in Turnhout and had to make ends meet for a month as a “single, working mom”. That premise came under intense fire immediately after the first broadcast. This was followed by complaints about Natalia’s behavior on set and neighbors claimed that the two rarely stayed in the house. That gnawed away at what remained of credibility.
“Of course there is still a big difference between the harsh reality of life and the context of a reality television program. This delicate exercise has caused many differing opinions and controversy in recent days. As a result, both the program and the strong testimonies that would be shown in the coming episodes unfortunately no longer do justice,” VTM 2 says in the press release.
