Voula Kehagia / The government is collapsing at all levels, primarily in terms of credibility

“The government admits that all it cares about is saving the profile of Mr. Mitsotakis,” said the press representative of SYRIZA – PS Voula Kehagia

Voula Kehagia unleashed fire against the government, stressing that the ND is collapsing at all levels, primarily in terms of credibility.

“The government admits that all it cares about is saving the profile of Mr. Mitsotakis,” she pointed out, referring to the financial interests, which Maximou has not specified.

“When she dismisses the Prime Minister’s two closest associates from the government just because their participation in a social event with what the Prime Minister described as ‘bloated wallets’ was fortunately revealed by uncontrolled media, then she is confessing that all she cares about is saving the profile of Mr. Mitsotakis”, noted the press representative of SYRIZA – PS Voula Kehagia in an interview she gave to libre.gr.

Voula Kehagia pointed out that the government has not really tackled the problem of punctuality, adding that the minimum wage is below expectations, while the measures proposed by SYRIZA PS to deal with punctuality and its tax program are the solution, so that citizens to start breathing normally.

Regarding public health, he emphasizes that it has ceased to be public as insured citizens are asked to pay a “legal pocket” for afternoon surgeries.

The representative of SYRIZA PS also stated that “As far as the Rule of Law is concerned, the resolution of the European Parliament, the wiretapping scandal, the handing over of the personal data of thousands of Greeks abroad by the Ministry of the Interior to New Democracy are issues that are no longer they leave no citizen indifferent”.

Regarding the European elections, the press representative of SYRIZA-PS, Voula Kehagia, emphasized that SYRIZA-PS is marching together in a coordinated manner in the crucial battle of the European elections.

Regarding Tempi, he said that “the government has confirmed its hypocrisy by rejecting the proposal of SYRIZA-PS to set up a pre-investigation committee” however, he believes that the truth will be revealed, vindication will come, justice will be served.

Her interview in detail:

– Mrs. Kehagia, the European elections are quite close. And the parties will be asked to compete both with each other and with the percentages they received in the recent past. What percentage will be a success for SYRIZA PS and what will be a failure?

In SYRIZA-PS we seek the best possible election result, Mr. Diamantopoule. The European Parliament elections are the first electoral contest after the shock of the national elections of 2023 and we are now confident that left-wing and progressive citizens will trust us, recognizing that we have a credible program and proposals to improve their daily lives. The aim is to maintain second place with such a percentage that will allow us a dynamic restart for the national elections, whenever they take place. And certainly to maintain the first place among the parties of the progressive opposition. We will make it.

–Tempe, Accuracy, Security, Rule of Law, Public Health. What are the issues that will decide the European elections?

On the contrary, the measures proposed by SYRIZA PS to deal with the accuracy and its tax program are the solution so that the citizens can start breathing normally. The minimum wage is below expectations. The government does not want to face the core of the problem. Public health is no longer public as insured citizens are required to pay a “legal copay” for afternoon surgeries. As far as the Rule of Law is concerned, the resolution of the European Parliament, the wiretapping scandal, the handing over of the personal data of thousands of Greeks abroad by the Ministry of the Interior to New Democracy are issues that no longer leave any citizen indifferent.

– The political plan of the government, at least so far, has been a success. One party above 40%, two between 12 and 17% and all the rest below 10%. That is, a “porridge” opposition. Is there a political response to this admittedly successful political project? And one more thing about that. Has the Media played any role in this?

I personally do not see any success in the political plan of the second government of the New Republic. The opposition is not “mush” either because it has low – in relation to the ruling party – electoral percentages. This was also demonstrated during the recent debate on the motion of no confidence against the Mitsotakis government.

The government is collapsing at all levels. And primarily at the level of reliability. When Maximou denounces financial interests that she avoids even naming and at the same time enjoys drinks with the same interests that she denounces as eccentric, it shows her true face and her cynicism.

When she dismisses the Prime Minister’s two closest associates from the government only because their participation in a social event with what the Prime Minister describes as “bloated wallets” was fortunately revealed by the uncontrolled media, then she confesses that all she cares about is the rescue of the profile of Mr. Mitsotakis. Let’s not rush. The European elections are only two months away.

– Do you think there will be justice for the victims of Tempe? Should the opposition parties who talk about a “cover-up” agree on a completely common line on this issue altogether? Couldn’t they, for example, put together a report on the Tempe crime?

The truth about Tempi will be revealed in all its dimensions. Justice will come, justice will be served. SYRIZA-PS will not stop seeking the attribution of responsibilities against the hoaxes, the state montages, and the rabid attempt to cover up the facts.

The government confirmed its hypocrisy by rejecting the proposal of SYRIZA-PS to set up a preliminary investigation committee if only the prime minister commits that the ND will also agree to the activation of article 86 on the responsibility of ministers so that Mr. Karamanlis and any involved politicians can be brought to justice in ordinary justice on the basis of the indictment of the relatives of the victims.

SYRIZA-PS proposed to the other opposition parties to draw up a joint conclusion but received their refusal.

–Do the opposition parties have other scope for agreement to jointly submit proposals in view of the European elections? I would like to remind you that SYRIZA PS, the New Left and Freedom Sailing have had a common path for many years.

SYRIZA-PS marches together in a coordinated manner in the crucial battle of the European elections. Any political consensus initiatives at the parliamentary level were recently also expressed in the joint filing of the no-confidence motion against the Mitsotakis government.

You probably find the convergence in the fact that the two parties you mention arose through the departure of executives who emerged from SYRIZA-PS. So there was no common course of parties, but of persons who either chose distancing or the path of division.

All these issues together will determine the vote of the citizens. The Greek society in opinion polls appears skeptical (88%) regarding the real intentions of the Mitsotakis government to render justice for the crime of Tempe. The words that attribute the government’s manipulations are condensed into the triptych of cover-up – cover-up – montage.

But at the same time, society appears restless and already gives poor marks to the rulers for the other burning issues you mentioned.

The New Democracy claimed the governance of the country with the issue of Security as its pre-election banner. It has failed miserably.

Crime is everywhere, citizens are worried and feel unsafe. Punctuality is eating away at the incomes of the majority of citizens and businesses, and the measures announced by the government are proving ineffective.
