The vast area of the former Boží Dar military airport is a place that can accommodate countless thousands of spectators, and that is not the only reason why it is a festival that has no borders. The 210 ha area can accommodate 20,000 tents and 10,000 cars. More than 100,000 visitors came to the past editions of the Votvírák festival to listen to the performances of mainly Czech and Slovak musical performers.
Votvírák is a multi-genre festival. Rock, pop, hip hop, techno and this year for the first time house and tech house. These are all musical trends that will fill a total of 5 stages of the festival. One stage will belong to budding music artists who are just building their stellar careers. Stage is named after the music competition Real League. The organizers have decided to dedicate this year’s 15th year in part to artists who have already left us. This will be a special commemorative set for the artist.
The festival also includes an interesting accompanying program. Both adults and children will have fun. The brave will be able to try adrenaline sports. Those who want to keep their feet on the ground can visit the game zone or go for a cocktail in the non-stop zone with many music bars. It will be the kind of fun street that can be seen, for example, in Ostrava and other European cities. The festival also includes a large pilgrimage.
Line-up and program of the Votvírák 2023 festival
The organizers have selected real delicacies of the music scene for this year’s event. Many musical groups, individuals and also countless DJs will perform.
You can look forward to the bands Lucie, Shkvor, Dymytry, Chinese, Shoes, Yellow dog, Other Cafe, one hundred animals, Written fiXa, Wohnout or Total commitment. It will complement them Come on, Jaroslav Uhlíř, Grandpa Mladek Illegal band, Bikini, Great Dane, Grog, Madam Royal, EDIT a Wotaznik.
He will present his art DJ Lucca, DJ Blow aka Broken Robot, Djane Jaqullin, Michael Burian, Orbit, DH Chris Sadler, DJ Landchi a DJ Rio.
Transportation to the Votvírák 2023 festival
I own a car
The route and parking area at the airport will be clearly marked. The road for entry and exit is different, so you don’t have to worry about any problems leaving the premises.
The festival site is from outskirts of Prague about half an hour away. If you take the D11 highway to Hradec Králové, exit 18 Bříství is the key for you. The route along the D10 highway to Mladá Boleslav ends for you at exit 26 Benátky nad Jizerou. Further towards Boží Dar airport.
From Brno it is best to take the D1 highway. You can go all the way to Prague and from there on as described above. But you can get off the highway at Jihlava and further to Kutná Hora, Kolín, Podebrady and Nymburk. Both routes will take you about 2.5 hours.
Spectators from Liberec they need around 50 minutes for transport. You take road number 35, at Ohrazenice you get off the D10 highway. At Benátek nad Jizerou you will go to Boží Dar.
Fans from České Budějovice. It is most advantageous to take the D3 highway to Prague and from there onwards, as described above. This route will take you around 2 hours. A variant is the route along road number 20, via Písek. Here you have to count on a 2.5 hour journey.
By bus
If you’re heading out from Prague, it is possible to board the NETBUS festival bus. The journey from Prague – Černý Most to Milovice takes about 40 minutes. The regular bus line runs every two hours and you have to change in Venátky nad Jizerou or Mladá Boleslav. Allow 1-2 hours for this trip.
From Brno you must first go to Prague and from there continue as described above. Several buses leave Brno every hour. However, expect a necessary 30-minute transfer around Prague.
Bus service from Liberec requires 2-3 transfers. These are mostly Mlada Boleslav, Prague and Venice nad Jizerou. You need 3-4 hours to get directly to the airport area.
For the journey from České Budějovice it is most convenient to use a connection with a transfer in Prague. These buses run every two hours. In Prague, you need to transfer to another stop in about 40 minutes. In total, the trip will take you 4-5.5 hours.
By train
The Milovice railway station is about 1 km from the festival grounds. If you don’t want to walk, you can use the special festival bus service that will take you to the venue.
Shallow from Prague to Milovice it runs several times an hour. You can use a direct train or a connection with a transfer in Lysá nad Labem. In both cases, the journey will take you about 50 minutes.
If you are traveling from Brno, then two transfers await you along the way – Kolín and Lysá nad Labem. The train departs from Brno several times an hour. You wait about 15 minutes for a transfer train in Kolín and the same in Lysá nad Labem. You will spend a total of 3.5-4 hours on the way.
From Liberec there are also several trains per hour. However, you have to prepare for a few transfers. In a better version, it is only two transfers. In some cases, however, you transfer up to 4 times. Expect a journey of 2.5-3.5 hours, depending on the chosen connection.
From České Budějovice you can get to Milovice every hour. It is most advantageous to find a connection where you have one transfer in Prague. In this case, the journey will take you three and a quarter hours.
Accommodation at the Votvírák 2023 festival
Of course, there is the option of staying in a tent city of a total of three categories, which is located directly on the festival site.
If you long for your own shower, firm bed and peace of mind, it is possible to find accommodation in nearby villages. Milovice, Benátky nad Jizerou, Loučeň, Hradišťko are villages within 8 km. Nymburk, Sadská, Radim, Mcely, Poděbrady, Mladá Boleslav or Brandýs nad Labem are within 20 km. The price for two nights ranges from approximately CZK 2,000 – 8,000. Most often, it is around 3,000 CZK for two people for two nights.
However, due to the high number of visitors to the festival, we recommend that you book your accommodation as soon as possible.
