Voting for the extraordinary elections to the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan has ended.

Publika.az informs that the elections were held in 6,478 polling stations formed in the territory of 125 constituencies across the country.

Polling stations opened at 8:00 a.m. and closed at 7:00 p.m.

990 candidates fought for 125 deputy mandates in the parliamentary elections. The total number of voters in Azerbaijan is 6 million 421 thousand 960 people.

For your information, according to the information released by the Central Election Commission for 17:00, 33.82 percent of voters (2 million 172 thousand 87 people) exercised their right to vote.

It should be noted that at the meeting of the Board of Directors of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) held on June 20, a unanimous decision was taken to recommend the deputies representing the Milli Majlis to take the initiative to appeal to the President of Azerbaijan on the dissolution of the sixth convocation of the Milli Majlis and the appointment of early elections.

At the plenary session of the Parliament held on June 21, the Milli Mejlis appealed to the President to schedule early elections. 105 people voted in favor of the petition and 1 person voted against it.

At the meeting of the Plenum of the Constitutional Court on June 27, a decision was made that the dissolution of the Milli Majlis and the appointment of early elections are in accordance with the Constitution.
