The National Electoral Institute (INE) estimates that at least 114,334 presidential election packages, 67 percent of the 170,648 that were installed, will be recounted vote by vote to ensure that there are no inconsistencies or errors.
While in the Senate it will be 71 percent and in Deputies 70 percent of the 170 thousand packages.
Today the district counting of the election for the Presidency, Senate and Chamber of Deputies begins, and on Sunday the final results of the June 2 election will be delivered.
Councilor Jaime Rivera explained that these percentages result from the review of the minutes carried out by the district boards and the Electoral Organization Directorate, so the final percentage to be reviewed will be announced today.
However, he clarified, this is not unusual, since the legislation obliges the INE to open the packages when any cause is detected, of the twenty that exist.
For example, in the 2015 midterm election, 70 percent were recounted, and in the 2018 presidential election, 75 percent, and in neither case did the result change considerably.
“It is nothing unusual, it is something provided for in the law, there are a series of causes to recount, but in addition a very extensive criterion of maximizing transparency is applied so that, in the event that there is any inconsistency or doubt, it is cleared up,” Indian.
Councilor Martín Faz asked citizens or political actors who are reporting alleged anomalies to be calm, because “there will be no fraud,” and the minutes will go through another filter again.
