France Volontaires Madagascar had the opportunity to accompany 10 young Malagasy volunteers of International Solidarity (VSI) and 46 in International Civic Service (ESCI) this year. Aged 22 to 37, they come from different regions. A first wave of about ten young people left in April, while the presentation ceremony of the 36 volunteers leaving for the next waves took place yesterday at the headquarters in Antsakaviro. The new Minister of Communication and Culture, Donna Volamiranty and the First Counselor of the French Embassy, Marc Servies, honored this event with their presence.
“You are the ambassadors of Madagascar in France. Your commitment is noble and contributes to the development of our country. I wish you good luck while carrying high the torch of Madagascar”declared the minister responsible for volunteering in Madagascar during his speech.
Their volunteer missions, lasting from 6 to 12 months in the French regions, are part of exchange programs, in particular through decentralized cooperation and the Territoires Volontaires (TEVO) program, developed by France Volontaires with the support of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE), or through the Récipro’citoyenneté program implemented by the Cool’eurs du Monde association with the support of the AFD.
“All the volunteers’ missions contribute to the achievement of the SDGs, such as discovering organic farming, thinking about the development and replanting of trees in a park, coordinating events, cultural activities, and providing support in the world of work.”stressed Niry Ramarijaona, national representative of France Volontaires in Madagascar.
