Voices for Palestine event raises funds for associations in Gaza

Last Friday, May 31, the first multicultural event Voices for Palestine was held, an event organized by Laguneros to raise funds and donate to associations that work in the Gaza Strip, under an Israeli invasion that has claimed more than 36 thousand lives. , and even countries like South Africa consider it a genocide.

Voices for Palestine began around 7:20 p.m. and lasted until after 11:00 p.m., with the presentation of Lagunero artists such as Paulina Meza and Eder Rangel who recited poetry; Eduardo Prieto, Manuel Vega, Alex Serhan, the band La intifada, SLMNDR KMNDR and Bebe groove offered their music.

The event also had a solidarity market where 14 people offered local products.

The event included a few words from Grace Gattas, founder of the Palestinian Federation in Mexico.

Last Sunday, through a publication on the social network Instagram, it was announced that thanks to the attendance of dozens of people at the event that had a cover of 30 pesos, 10 thousand pesos were raised.

Foundations

The proceeds will go to three foundations Care for Gaza, Ele Elna Elak and Dr. Haya Hijazi. The first of them, Care for Gaza, provides direct aid to the population in the Strip through groceries, diapers, baby food, water and money; The second, whose name in Arabic means “what we possess, you possess” was formed in 2018 by a group of student volunteers to support families with food and shelter in the Gaza Strip.

Ele Elna Elak has a page on the Gofundme platform where they have raised more than 683 thousand euros.

For her part, Dr. Hijazi, who has a verified profile on Instagram as dr.haya.gaza, offers help with surgery expenses, medical studies, as well as delivery of food and water.
