Know-how for organic farming is equated with specialist knowledge for conventional farming
Vienna (OTS) – “Organic is finally getting the status it deserves,” said Olga Voglauer, agriculture spokeswoman for the Green Party, on the occasion of the resolution of the new agricultural and forestry vocational training law in the Agriculture Committee today, Wednesday. Among other things, it anchors the equivalent teaching of specific knowledge about organic farming in vocational training: “Know-how for organic farming is equated with specialist knowledge for conventional farming. This means that prevention measures for plant health such as beneficial insect strips, soil health and soil life should be given more weight in training, as well as animal health and freedom of movement of animals,” says Voglauer: “Overall, this strengthens the systemic view of the agricultural ecosystem as well as the principle of the circular economy.” .
The federal law on in-company vocational training in agriculture and forestry regulates vocational training in this area uniformly nationwide for the first time. This is also accompanied by the establishment of a federal vocational training advisory board, the registrability of the master’s title, and the creation of the “professional hunting industry” as a separate training area. All innovations that Voglauer welcomes: “We are creating real jobs of the future. With this comprehensive training law, aspiring farmers and foresters are supported and encouraged to continue their training in order to master the ecological and economic challenges on their farms with the best knowledge and innovative spirit.
