The background to the case is that a man in his thirties was approached and threatened with a weapon by three men in his own home in Fannrem.
The incident was discovered by a neighbor and the three perpetrators fled the scene.
– The three accused in the case admitted during interrogation this week that they were behind the violent incident. The motive appears to be profit to pay off debts, police lawyer Bente Bøklepp from the Trøndelag police district says in the press release.
Police then released the three men believing there was no risk of tampering with evidence or reoffending.
Since the incident occurred, the police have carried out an extensive investigation.
– Among other things, video surveillance, examination of digital devices, traffic data and some interviews were carried out. Furthermore, the police received several tips from residents that were useful for the investigation and would like to thank them for this, says Bøklepp.
Police say the case is almost underway.
– Recognizes real conditions
One of the accused was interrogated for six hours yesterday, his defense lawyer Jon Reidar Aae told VG.
– Recognizes the facts and pleads guilty.
Aae does not want to go into details, because there are several defendants in the case.
– Here are two more who have explained themselves.
Erik Vatne, appointed defense attorney for another of the three defendants, would not comment on how his client is responding to the charges.
– My client explained himself to the police. For the moment I don’t want to go into the details of what he said, Vatne writes in a text message to VG.
