In Chittagong’s Mirsrai, ahead of the upazila parishad elections, candidates are running to the voters’ door. Meanwhile, a mobile court fined a female vice chairman candidate for violating the code of conduct.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) Prashant Chakraborty imposed the fine by running a mobile court at Mirsarai Upazila Parishad auditorium on Tuesday (April 30).
Women Vice Chairman candidate Bibi Kulsuma Champa (Padmaful) distributed leaflets during the monthly law and order meeting.
In this regard, Prashant Chakraborty said that during the monthly law and order meeting in the Upazila Parishad auditorium, the female vice chairman candidate with Padmaful symbol was distributing her election leaflets in violation of the election code of conduct. Candidate Bibi Kulsuma Champa was fined 20,000 taka for such allegations. Along with fines are warnings for the future.
In Mirsarai Upazila Parishad elections to be held on May 8, five candidates are contesting for the post of chairman, four for the post of vice chairman, and three for the post of female vice chairman. However, it is said that the names of horse symbol candidate Sheikh Mohammad Ataur Rahman and Cup-Pierch symbol candidate Enayet Hossain Nayan are the most discussed.
