The Ministry of Information and Communications supports Ericsson to cooperate with universities to build labs for students to access technology and develop new applications.
Emphasizing the potential of Vietnamese people in math and STEM subjects, the Minister of Information and Communications also suggested that Ericsson open a research (R&D) center in Vietnam to develop products for the global market. .
Vietnam is considering some digital platforms as a type of infrastructure, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung expects Ericsson to continue participating in the process of building digital infrastructure and developing the digital economy in Vietnam.
“The way Ericsson participates in Vietnam’s digital infrastructure in the coming time will have important changes. For example, new platforms, industrial applications, or cooperation with network operators will not only be in the form of selling equipment but also jointly researching and developing applications and platforms.”, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung said.

In response to the Vietnamese side’s sharing, Ericsson General Director Börje Ekholm said that the Ministry of Information and Communications’s orientation on focusing on developing 5G applications is very correct. This is also a good opportunity for Vietnamese application developers and programmers to bring products to the global market.
According to Mr. Börje Ekholm, Ericsson highly appreciates Minister Nguyen Manh Hung’s suggestions about further cooperation with Vietnamese universities. Training high-quality human resources in Vietnam to serve research and development is also something Ericsson is interested in and looking for.
At the end of the meeting, the head of Ericsson once again affirmed his commitment to accompany Vietnam and wished to cooperate more closely with government agencies and domestic businesses.
