ASSUMPTION- A Highway Police agent was captured on video spitting at a citizen during a routine procedure on Route PY03, near the Mariano Roque Alonso Expo. The video, which quickly went viral on social networks, generated outrage and led the institution to investigate the incident and take action, according to Patricia Ferreira, head of Public Relations of the agency.
“I couldn’t say if the person violated a traffic law, because we have an exclusive lane throughout that area, but you can see the spit that the inspector gave to this citizen,” said Ferreira. He further confirmed that the inspector involved is already at headquarters and that appropriate disciplinary measures will be implemented to address the serious misconduct committed.
“The action does not correspond and goes against his honorability. Spit is something very serious,” added Ferreira. So far, it is not clear what motivated the inspector to act in such a way.
