The Open University of Recoleta, together with the Neighborhood Council number 35, are pleased to invite the residents of Recoleta and all those interested in representative art to the exhibition.

The exhibition is made up of a series of engravings and paintings with textile intervention that seek to highlight the different facets of women as belonging to an ethnic, cultural or popular group.

“Vestitus” (dress in Latin), seeks to cover the sitters using wool, thread, cloth or hair, giving depth to a unique experience by combining pictorial representation with these elements.

“Clothing, what covers us, helps us communicate our identity, identify ourselves within an aesthetic, social group or ethnicity. This exhibition aims to move us and make us think about who we are,” says the artist.

The exhibition is part of the celebration and commemoration of International Women’s Day as a tribute to feminist struggles in the search for a world of equality without racial or gender discrimination.

Valentina Huerta is a Chilean artist, graduated from the ARCIS University in the area of Fine Arts, with a mention in Graphics and Education, with training in the area of textile art and pre-Hispanic iconography at the Museum of Pre-Columbian Art and the Art and Restoration Workshop Pawllu.
