The greatest artists often come to stay in the Botanic Sanctuary on Mechelseplein in Antwerp before going to their performance in the Sportpaleis. There was no performance on Tuesday evening, but Véronique De Kock was hostess during a fashion parade of her new collection of women’s clothing.

In March, Véronique De Kock was involved in a car accident in Wommelgem. The former Miss Belgium was waiting at a red light when an oncoming car rammed into the back of her car. She suffered whiplash from it.

Two weeks ago, De Kock shared on her social media that she had been urgently admitted to hospital. “The car accident apparently wasn’t that banal. Never dreamed that a whiplash would cause so much radiance and pain,” she shared with her followers.

On Tuesday, De Kock was hostess at a Lifestyle Magazine event with her store’s new collection. “The work doesn’t stop there, does it,” says De Kock with some tremor in her voice. “Just before the show I took an anti-inflammatory, so I’m not doing so well. I go to the physiotherapist three times a week and tomorrow the second injection will go into my vertebra. But the doctor says that surgery is not an option for the time being.”

De Kock started 1995 by Vero in Schilde in 2015. In 2019 she moved to the Bredabaan in Brasschaat. “The first eight years with 1995 by Véro were fantastic, but the last year has been particularly difficult. Although there is a general trend in the sale of clothing that things are much more difficult.”

The former Miss Belgium cannot give a specific reason, but she does think that longevity is a factor that affects many people. “However, the price of the clothes I sell is not high. How often our employees are told by customers that they had overestimated the price. The customer is more and more spoiled and I think that what is going on in the world also plays a role.”
