Venezuelan Supreme Court confirms Nicolas Maduro’s victory

It was Nicolás Maduro himself who sent an amparo action to the Court of Justice to confirm his victory

He Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) of Venezuelacontrolled by magistrates aligned with Chavismo, ratified this Thursday the Official results of the July 28 electionswhich declared the winner to Nicolas Maduroamid allegations of fraud both nationally and internationally.

During an official ceremony attended by senior State officials and diplomatic representatives, Caryslia Rodríguez, president of the TSJ and leader of the judicial expertise, announced: “This Electoral Chamber validates the results of the presidential election of July 28 issued by the National Electoral Council (CNE)”.

The ruling, which closes the review of the elections in a “unequivocal and unrestricted”was issued 22 days after Maduro himself requested the review through an appeal for protectionof which no details were known. During the process, the 10 former presidential candidates were summoned to the TSJ.

Rodriguez said the decision was based on a report prepared by national and international experts, whose identity was not revealed. In addition, the validation process was carried out without the participation of the majority opposition, which continues to denounce electoral fraud.
