Venezuela: Supreme Court verifies presidential records

This procedure is moving forward despite calls from twenty-two countries and the EU for the CNE to publish the electoral records, allowing for an impartial verification of the results in Venezuela.

The magistrates of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), They went last Sunday to National Elections Council (CNE)in order to review the physical minutes of the presidential elections, in order to continue the procedure of “validation”, of the results of the elections, where the electoral body proclaimed the victory of Nicolas Maduro, a victory that was questioned after the electoral fraud.

As reported by a local media, Rodríguezwent with the other members of the TSJ Inocencio Figueroa and Fanny Marqueztogether with international experts and observers, in order to validate that the physical records match those received in the database of the national totalization centers. CNEto continue with the process, which was requested for “certify”, the presidential results.

It should be noted that this procedure is moving forward, despite the call of the Organization of American States (OAS)as well as that of twenty-two countries and that of the European Union (EU) to which the CNE publish the electoral records and allow for impartial verification of the election results.

Following the request, the majority opposition grouped in the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD), organized the mobilizations inside and outside the Venezuelan country in order to defend the “victoria” which obtained its standard-bearer, Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia.
