The Minister of Communication of Venezuela, Freddy Ñáñez, reported this Sunday that the Caribbean country and Colombia will hold a binational meeting of poets on September 17 and 18, in the Colombian city of Cúcuta and in the Venezuelan city of San Cristóbal.
“Between September 17 and 18 there will be a meeting of poets from Colombia and Venezuela for a border for peace and integration,” the minister indicated on his Twitter account.
Likewise, the Colombian poet Fernando Rendón detailed, in a telephone contact with the state channel Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), that the meeting will be held on September 17 in Cúcuta, department of Norte de Santander, and on September 18 in San Cristóbal , Táchira state.
“We are on the eve of this meeting, which will be held on the 17th in the city of Cúcuta and on the 18th in San Cristóbal, capital of the state of Táchira, with the participation of 20 poets, 10 from Colombia and 10 from Venezuela,” he added. Rendon.
The poet thanked Minister Ñáñez for his efforts to carry out this event, which, he assured, is intended to “reflect on the importance of reestablishing in depth and in a decisive, lasting and safe manner” the relationship between the two nations.
The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, announced on Friday that on September 26 there will be an “opening” of the border with Venezuela, with the resumption of air connections and cargo transportation, one more step towards the full normalization of the relationships that were broken in 2019.
«On September 26 we will open the border between Colombia and Venezuela. As a first step, the air connection and cargo transportation between our countries will be resumed,” Petro detailed on his Twitter account, while his Venezuelan counterpart, Nicolás Maduro, announced it on the same social network.
Petro highlighted that this step confirms “the Government’s commitment to reestablish relations of brotherhood” with Venezuela, a country with which Colombia shares a 2,219-kilometer border.
