A representative of the third gender named Varsha has been elected again in Jhenaidhe Upazila Parishad elections. He was elected from Jhenaidah Sadar Upazila in the first phase of Upazila Parishad elections.

Varsha Mahila won the post of Vice Chairman by getting 54258 votes. His nearest rival Aarti Dutta got 23352 votes.
Earlier, in Kotchandpur Upazila Parishad elections of the district, Pinki Khatun, a third gender, was elected to the post of female vice chairman. He is currently serving.
Apart from this, Nazrul Islam of the third gender was elected as the chairman of the Trilochanpur Union Parishad No. 6 of Kaliganj Upazila and created a nationwide stir. He is also serving in the current council.
After being elected, Varsha said, I am happy because the people voted and elected me. I am grateful to the people of Jhenaidah.
He also said, we are neglected in the society. Everyone sees transgenders differently. I have been selected. Now I want to prove with work that transgenders can contribute to development like others. We want to prove that Hijras are an important part of the society and the state.
Former Vice President of Jhenaidah Municipal Awami League Mizanur Rahman Masum was elected to the post of chairman in the first phase of the election. He won by getting 50 thousand 746 votes. His nearest rival JM Rashidur Alam got 43 thousand 170 votes. Former joint convener of Sadar Thana Jubo League Enamul Haque Enam won the post of vice chairman by getting 40707 votes. His closest rival, Abdullah Ibn Abbas, got 40,320 votes.
