“White” smoke from the voting of the teams of the English championship. The Premier League announced in a statement today (6/6) that clubs have voted to retain VAR.
“Premier League clubs have today voted in favor of VAR continuing in the Premier League. While VAR produces more accurate decision-making, it was agreed that improvements must be made for the benefit of the game and the fans,” it said.

It should be noted that Wolves was the only team that voted for its abolition. Wolves needed a further 13 votes to pass their motion to scrap VAR, but in the end no team came forward, allowing the use of the Video Assistant Referee to continue in British football’s top flight. From the autumn, the VAR in the Premier League will be upgraded, as it will have a semi-automatic offside, while the fans will be able to listen live to the referee’s dialogues with the VAR.
