The statue of Vincent van Gogh stolen in Assen at the beginning of December is back in its place. This was reported on Facebook by the New Year’s association De Oliebol of Vledder.

The painter’s sculpture disappeared in Assen at the beginning of December. The statue was placed there by the Vaart business association from Assen on the occasion of the Van Gogh exhibition at the Drents Museum.

At the beginning of December, Assen’s Vaart announced that it would report the theft. The entrepreneurs’ club had given the offenders until Christmas to put the statue back in place, but this did not happen.

The statue was relocated intact. New Year’s club De Oliebol told local media it hoped the report would now be withdrawn.

Vaart in Assen would have preferred to see the statue earlier, because the exhibition at the Drents Museum will only last until January 7. Even the so-called city ​​experiencea journey through the city ends between shop windows and murals inspired by Van Gogh.
