Valledupar Aqueduct and Sewerage Master Plan updated

The demographic growth of Valledupar has generated difficulties in the provision of essential services such as aqueduct and sewage, in response to which the Government of Cesar decided to generate strategies that cover basic needs, mainly in subnormal sectors.

This is how the first steps are taken to activate the city’s Aqueduct and Sewer Master Plan, an initiative of Governor Elvia Milena Sanjuán Dávila who has already completed her first working group, together with the mayor of Valledupar, Ernesto Orozco, and the Valledupar Public Services Company, Emdupar.

“It is a vital issue,” considers Governor Elvia Milena Sanjuán and as a conclusion to the first meeting she points out that: “The updating of the Valledupar Aqueduct and Sewer Master Plan begins its progress. We have studies and designs that the company has had for 10 years, but we must begin to review them and decide if a new consultancy is necessary.”

The first explorations show that the problem with the drinking water service does not lie in the collection of the liquid, given that 2.4 cubic meters per second are taken, barely compared to the regional aqueduct of Bucaramanga, which supplies, in addition to that city, to the municipalities of Florida Blanca and Girón, with 1,300,000 users, double that of Valledupar.

The Aqueduct and Sewerage Master Plan put on the table by the Government of Cesar seeks to address deficiencies in networks, technology and even contamination of the Cesar River.

“We have some work tables installed to update the Aqueduct and Sewer Master Plan. Next week the technical teams will meet in Emdupar. This will be the new path so that the Vallenatos can have constant water in their homes,” said Mayor Ernesto Orozco.

In her then Government Program, Governor Elvia Milena Sanjuán Dávila committed to the Master Plan and today she is keeping her word. “This first step seems excellent to us, because it will lead us to points of understanding. “A large part of the contribution they propose to us is to reach a meeting, for solutions that benefit the city,” said the intervening manager of Emdupar, Pablo Jaramillo.

Governor Elvia Milena Sanjuán Dávila maintained that her government will continue to resolve the basic needs of the people of Caesarea, following the March of social development.
