USA: The thief who bit the police dog was arrested

A Northern California man has been arrested after allegedly biting and ‘stabbing’ a police dog, authorities say.

A Fairfield Police Department dog named Court was ‘bitten’ and ‘stabbed’ by a 44-year-old man as officers tried to arrest him.

However, authorities say a Northern California man was arrested after biting and stabbing a police dog.

Kurt DeSilva, 44, was transported to the Solano County Jail on multiple felony charges after being treated at a hospital, according to the Fairfield Police Department.

Around 2 p.m., authorities received a report of a forced entry into a man’s home in the 1700 block of Elm Street in North Bay, police said.

Police said that the resident of the house left the house after contacting them. Meanwhile, authorities received a report from an Amazon driver that a man had threatened to kill him and take his delivery truck.

Officers arrived and saw DeSilva running inside the home, police said. They tried unsuccessfully to bring him out.

‘After numerous attempts to coax the suspect out of the home and the use of de-escalation techniques and tools, officers entered the home in an attempt to arrest the man. The man bit K9 Court on the face and stabbed him on his left side.’

Law enforcement eventually moved in to arrest DiSalva and took a police dog named Court with them, police said.

“The suspect bit K9 Cort in the face and stabbed him in the left side,” police said. The suspect appears to be under the influence of drugs. Officers were later able to take the man into custody.’

Cort was treated at UC Davis Veterinary Hospital and is recovering at home with his handler, police said.

Jail records show DiSalva has been booked for carjacking, theft, harming a police horse or dog, and parole violation.

He is also booked on suspicion of obstructing, obstructing or resisting a police officer, records show.

Police officials wished the court a speedy recovery, saying they were proud of their officers’ professionalism, commitment to service and de-escalation techniques.
