It is worthy of recognition that President Biden acts in this way,” said the Mexican president during his usual morning press conference, where he praised this measured as “advance” in immigration matters by its northern neighbor.

“We have been insisting on the regularization of Mexicans who have been working honestly in the United States for years and have not been given justice. This, although partial, is progress,” said López Obrador, who has also highlighted that Biden made this announcement on the eve of the United States presidential elections, scheduled for November.

López Obrador has highlighted that Biden faces “without fear” the criticism that the opposition may make and that, according to him, he will allude to a “false” speech about migrants coming to the country to transport drugs or commit illicit acts. , according to information collected by the newspaper ‘La Jornada’.

President Biden announced this very Tuesday a plan to regularize the situation of couples of US citizens who do not have nationality, an initiative that seeks to “keep American families together” and that will allow these people to obtain permanent residence status. .

The measure aims to reach around 500,000 people married to US citizens and around 50,000 of their children, with a maximum age of 21 years. The Government establishes the requirements that they have resided in the United States for at least ten years before June 17, 2024.
