US Prepares to Counter Iran’s Possible Attack on Israel

US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a telephone conversation and discussed measures to strengthen Israel’s defense. One of the topics was the possible deployment of American troops to protect the Jewish state, Liter.kz reports with reference to TASS.

The information released by the White House press service reports confirmation of Israel’s security.

“President Biden reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to Israel’s security in the face of various threats from Iran and its proxy terrorist groups, such as Hamas and Hezbollah, as well as the Houthis. He also discussed measures to bolster Israel’s defenses against threats including ballistic missiles and drones, as well as the possibility of deploying U.S. troops to protect it,” the release said.

Biden stressed the importance of efforts to reduce tensions in the region. The White House press service noted that US Vice President Kamala Harris also took part in the telephone conversation.

As reported by the American portal Axios citing sources, the United States is preparing to help Israel repel a possible attack from Iran and its allies, including the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah. According to the portal, US intelligence began receiving data on Iran’s planned attack on July 31. The Biden administration is confident that Iran could strike Israel in response to the assassination of Hamas Politburo chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, for which Iran believes Israel is responsible.

Let us recall that Ismail Haniyeh, a member of the leadership of the Palestinian movement Hamas, was killed as a result of an attack on his residence in the Iranian capital Tehran.

In response to the killing of Ismail Haniyeh, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has promised a “harsh and painful response.”

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Spokesperson’s Office later said that Hamas’ military chief Mohammed Deif had been killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip. However, Hamas has yet to comment on the Israeli military’s statement.
