US plans to airdrop food into Gaza – 2024-03-02 23:33:13

US President Joe Biden has announced plans to drop food and supplies from US military aircraft into Gaza for the first time. He told this to reporters on Friday (March 1). The announcement came a day after Palestinians queuing for aid were attacked in Gaza. British news agency Reuters reported this news.

Biden said, aid will be dropped from US aircraft in the coming days. However, it is not clear when exactly it will happen.

However, airdrops are expected to begin this weekend.

Meanwhile, other countries, including Jordan and France, have already airlifted aid to Gaza.

“We have to do more and the United States will do more,” Biden told reporters. At the same time, he also said, ‘The flow of aid to Gaza is not enough.’

White House spokesman John Kirby insisted the aid would be “a sustained effort.” He added that the first airdrop would most likely be military MREs, or ‘meals prepared’.

“This will not be the only and last step,” Kirby told reporters. The US is also looking at the possibility of a maritime corridor to send large amounts of aid to Gaza.
