US demands Israel plan for ‘the day after’ in Gaza

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday demanded from Israel a plan for “the day after” in Gaza after the Israeli bombing of a refugee camp in Rafah, in the south of the enclave.

“In the absence of a plan for the day after, there will not be a day after,” he said at a press conference during his visit to Moldova.

“If not, Hamas will be in charge, which is unacceptable. Or else, we will have chaos, anarchy and a vacuum,” he said.

Blinken, who described the attack as an “incident,” acknowledged that it had been “horrible” and that “no one who saw the images cannot help but be deeply affected by it on a human level.”

“We have been very clear with Israel,” he stated and demanded that Benjamin Netanyahu’s government investigate and determine “exactly what happened and why” the attack, which left several dozen dead, happened.

Blinken stressed that it is necessary to get to that point “as quickly as possible,” since this plan will only guarantee the lasting defeat of the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas. Source: news
