Former Pink Floyd band member Roger Waters denied being sexually assaulted by Hamas terrorists on October 7 in an interview on Piers Morgan’s TV show. Following the interview, the chairman of Naamat Hagit Par called on the radio stations to boycott the singer’s songs.
Echo 99 radio station was the first to respond to the call. “Since the beginning of the war,” wrote the station’s CEO Noam Cohen Gefen, “with Waters’ previous statements, we have reduced the playing of his songs and the songs of his esteemed band Pink Floyd almost completely, and these were played as part of dedications and requests. We were shocked by the interview, and of course we will not broadcast his songs in the foreseeable future.”
The Lev HaHadina and 100FM radio stations also responded directly to the call and announced that they would refrain from playing his songs. At the IDF radio station, Galgaltz responded that “they do not confiscate any work due to the identity of its creators. The station’s music editors have the freedom to insert songs according to their professional judgment, and they know how to show sensitivity and attention to the public mood.”
Radio Kaan said: “The things Waters said are outrageous and unacceptable and we reject them completely. In their work, Kaan’s music editors take into account all the considerations related to the zeitgeist and the period, as well as the identity of the performers. There is no doubt that in editing the programs at Kaan 88 they will also take into account These shocking statements”.
The singer Aviv Gefen also commented at length on Waters’ words and wrote on his Instagram account: “A few days ago I moved house and as part of the move I also sorted through my huge record collection. When I got to your solo albums something in me prevented me from moving them to my new home. I left all your solo albums in a dark room That the walls have mold stains, just like your opinions.”

“Today you upped the ante on the engine of lies, hatred and anti-Semitism. You decided to hurt the women who were raped for no injustice in the face of women who, like the other abductees, did no harm to anyone, just went to sleep in their beds.
I believe that a large part of them listened to your songs.. How dare you tell the world that there were no cases of rape? Are there no children in captivity? Who are you protecting, the devil? To remind you, on Friday of October there was a ceasefire, the next day 1,500 people were murdered, kidnapped and rape was committed, which has been proven many times.”
“What kind of conspiracy are you alluding to,” added Geffen, “You lost your father in the war against Hitler, but maybe Hitler is a little bit you? Among your lines of hatred, I feel that you blame the Jews for the loss of your father, but you must rise above this primitive psychological connection And in light of your age, you don’t have that much time left.”
Geffen ended the post and wrote: “Praying for the return of all the abductees and waiting for your apology to all the victims and abductees of the Shevah in October. You are a modern executioner, detached and evil, we are lucky to have Gilmore.”
