Up 31%, Garuda-Citilink Carries 82,000 Passengers During the Peak of Eid Homecoming 2024

JAKARTA – Garuda Indonesia together with its subsidiary, Citilink, recorded a total of 82,168 passenger transportation during the peak momentum of departures for the 2024 Eid peak season which fell today, Saturday (6/4/2024). In detail, Garuda Indonesia carried at least 37,737 passengers and Citilink carried 44,431 passengers from a total of 522 flights operated by the Garuda Indonesia Group.

The movement of the number of passengers in the Eid homecoming flow this time increased by 31% compared to the peak of last year’s Eid homecoming flow of 63 thousand passengers. This number is projected to continue to move dynamically in line with community mobilization which has increased significantly ahead of the momentum of Eid this year.

“Seeing the record of movement of service users in accessing Garuda Indonesia Group flight services which has increased significantly during the peak season of Eid this time, we continue to optimize the readiness of our operational services starting from pre-flight, in-flight, to post-flight in all areas. “passenger service points so that the mobilization of people who want to travel can take place smoothly and optimally,” said Garuda Indonesia President Director Irfaniaputra in his official statement.

Irfan emphasized that various operational preparations including the implementation of various mitigation measures were carried out to ensure the readiness of the aircraft fleet in prime condition and fit to fly. Apart from carrying out regular and comprehensive maintenance, the Garuda Indonesia Group also ensures that the flight crew is in prime condition to serve passengers, as well as ensuring that ground service, including baggage handling, is carried out according to applicable standard procedures.

“On the other hand, we also coordinate with all stakeholders and airport stakeholders to ensure that flight operations run optimally,” he added.

During the peak season for Eid 2024, Garuda Indonesia recorded the highest traffic for several flight routes that are people’s favorites, such as Denpasar, Surabaya, Medan, Yogyakarta, Semarang and Makassar for domestic flights. Meanwhile, the destination for international flights is Singapore.

“Meanwhile, the routes that recorded the highest traffic for Citilink flights were Medan, Denpasar, Padang, Surabaya, Batam, Balikpapan, Palembang and Pontianak,” he explained.

Specifically for departures from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, which is the main hub for air travel in Indonesia, the Garuda Indonesia Group recorded at least 32,046 passenger transportation, where Garuda Indonesia carried at least 18,212 passengers and Citilink carried around 13,834 passengers.
Total departures via Soekarno Hatta Airport for Garuda Indonesia Group flights reached at least 179 flights consisting of 101 Garuda Indonesia flights and 78 flights by Citilink.

Still in the momentum of the peak season for Eid this year, the peak of the reverse flow movement is predicted to occur on Sunday (14/4) where Garuda Indonesia projects to record a number of passengers of at least 32,041 passengers and Citilink is projected to carry at least 42,533 passengers.

“This number continues to move dynamically in line with people’s preferences in accessing various transportation mode options that will be used to support their return trip needs,” he concluded.
