The British ambassador to the US, Peter Mandelson, was fired by the country’s prime minister, Keir Starmer, after the revelations about his relationship with the sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein, BBC reported Thursday.
“In the light of additional information in the emails written by Peter Mandelson, the prime minister has asked the Secretary of Foreign Affairs to withdraw as an ambassador,” says a statement from the British diplomatic mission in Washington, cited by the medium.
“Electronic emails show that the depth and scope of Peter Mandelson’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein is materially different from what was known at the time of his appointment,” added the embassy.
«In particular, Peter Mandelson’s suggestion that Jeffrey Epstein’s first condemnates was unfair and should be challenged constitutes new information. In view of this, and aware of the victims of Epstein’s crimes, his ambassador position has been withdrawn with immediate effect, ”he concluded.
“I can’t rewrite history”
Previously, Peter Mandelson admitted “very shameful” details of his relationship with El Financiero. This was said after the publication that a American Congress Committee made on Monday of a 238 -page book that was delivered to Jeffrey Epstein for his main friends on the occasion of the celebration of his 50 years. The documents showed that the now British former ambassador in the US defined the offender as his “best friend.”
In the book, there are also photos in which Mandelson is seen during a visit, around 2002, to Epstein’s private island in the Caribbean, Little St. James, to which one of the sexual slaves defined as the “island of orgy.”
The mentions of the British ambassador are carried out over 10 pages, in which it also qualifies Epstein as “mysterious” and describes it as “intelligent and insightful.”
Filtered electronic emails also revealed that Mandelson had advised Epstein how to answer when he faced criminal charges for requesting a minor in 2008.
«I cannot rewrite the story. What I can do is express my deep solidarity with those who have been trafficked by him and, secondly, I can accept, yes, I can accept that I have continued my association with him for too long, ”lamented the diplomat. With RT
