Unita suggests inspection of minutes held by the CNE

News from Angola – UNITA suggested on Monday, in Luanda, a judicial inspection of all minutes held by the National Electoral Commission (CNE) and the political parties competing in the general elections of 24 August last, in order to confirm their authenticity.

During a statement read by its leader, Adalberto Costa Júnior, the party asks to compare the minutes held by the eight competitors with those of the CNE, in addition to canceling the vote at polling stations where alleged “irregularities” were observed.

According to that party force, its parallel vote count indicates substantial changes in the electoral districts of Luanda, Zaire, Cuando Cubango, Namibe, Cabinda, Huambo, Bengo, Cunene and Lunda Sul, where the party claims more mandates and the reduction of MPLA parliamentary seats.

At another point in his intervention, the leader of UNITA announced that the party is awaiting the Constitutional Court’s ruling in relation to the request for precautionary measures.
