Unique isolated tribe caught on video in Peru

The uncontacted Mashco Piro tribe, one of the largest tribes that avoid contact with the rest of the world, was filmed in Peru, Liter.kz reports.

The project published unique footage Survival International, which supports small and isolated tribes around the world.

The video shows dozens of tribesmen standing on the banks of a river in the Peruvian Amazon, near logging concessions, as they try to protect the jungle from deforestation.

Activists say this highlights the need to revoke all logging licences in the area and recognise the Mashco Piro tribe’s territory.

“In recent days, several cases have been recorded of more than fifty members of the tribe emerging from the jungle and appearing near villages of contact tribes in southern Peru. These tribes have conveyed a message from Mashco Piro condemning the presence of loggers on their land,” the publication notes.

Uncontacted tribes are groups of indigenous peoples who live in isolation from modern civilization. They live in remote areas such as the Amazon jungle in South America, the jungles of Papua New Guinea, and parts of India and Indonesia.

These tribes deliberately avoid contact with the rest of humanity in order to preserve their traditional way of life and protect themselves from diseases and the influence of civilization. However, some of them have rare contacts with related tribes living nearby and having contact with the outside world.

An example of an uncontacted tribe are the Sentinelese, the inhabitants of Great Sentinel Island in the Andaman Islands of India. This tribe not only refuses to make contact with the world, but also aggressively attacks anyone who visits their island despite the ban of the Indian authorities.
