Tonight, an under-construction tunnel collapsed on the Tuyen Quang – Ha Giang highway, killing one person. Authorities are investigating the incident.
Evening of September 16, talking to reporters People’s Intelligence, Mr. Le Quang Van – Chairman of Tu Quan Commune People’s Committee (Yen Son District, Tuyen Quang) said that at around 7:00 p.m. the same day, at the construction site of the Tuyen Quang – Ha Giang Expressway underpass (in Tu Quan Commune), an underpass under construction collapsed, killing one person.

“While workers were pouring concrete into the tunnel, the steel frame suddenly collapsed, crushing a person, seriously injuring him,” said Mr. Van.
That same evening, Tuyen Quang Provincial Police said that Mr. Tong Van T. (born in 1988, from Son La), a victim of the underpass collapse, died while being treated at Phuong Bac General Hospital.
Preliminary determination of the contractor for the above construction project is Cuong Thinh Thi Construction Investment Group Joint Stock Company, headquartered in Ninh Binh province.
Yen Son District Police are coordinating with relevant authorities to investigate the cause of the incident.
