UAdeC brings ‘Wolves in your colony’ to Fuentes del Sur in Torreón

In order to bring free health services to the population and to publicize the educational offer of the Autonomous University of Coahuila (UA de C) in Torreón, this Friday the Macrobrigade “Wolves in your neighborhood” was held in Plaza Solidaridad from the Fuentes del Sur sector.

David Hernández Barrera, coordinator of University Extension at the UA de C, said that more than 200 students from 21 schools and faculties of the Torreón Unit participated in this event, as well as five municipal and state agencies, such as the state Ministry of Health. , through Health Jurisdiction No. 6 and the Youth Integration Center.

From 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the maximum study house offered free legal and educational guidance as well as community diagnosis. The population also had access to different health services such as: medical consultations; dental checkup; psychological counseling; tests to detect Covid-19, hepatitis and HIV; medical parameters (glucose, blood pressure, weight and height) and pregnancy prevention and sexual health. In addition, information was offered on the prevention of addictions, gender violence, mental health and vaccination against Influenza and Covid-19.

At this event, there were artistic presentations, children’s activities, donation of succulent plants and canine rabies vaccination.

Hernández Barrera indicated that the Macrobrigada began in the municipality of Saltillo, continued in Torreón and then will go to Monclova. “The idea is that we have a brigade every month and reach between five and six brigades each semester to visit the 20 municipalities where the university has a presence,” he declared. He commented that by brigade, sHe hopes to impact more than 300 people and recalled that in previous years, this project was called “Brigade in your neighborhood” but that now they called it “Wolves” to give it a greater identity.. The rector of the UA de C, Jesús Octavio Pimentel Martínez, attended the opening ceremony; Sandra López Chavarría, coordinator of the Torreón Unit and César Alejandro del Bosque Garza, head of Health Jurisdiction No. 6, among other educational, municipal and state authorities.
