The first phase of the championship will take place simultaneously at seven sites across Madagascar: Mahajanga, Antalaha, Antananarivo, Toamasina, Antsirabe, Manakara, and Toliara. Each venue will host teams from neighboring leagues, where champion clubs will compete to accumulate points. The top two teams from each venue will earn their tickets to the final phase. Which will be held in Antananarivo from October 21 to November 3, 2024 and will crown the U20 national champion of the year. This event will allow young talents from across the country to measure themselves and demonstrate their potential in a high-level competitive setting. “ To participate, clubs must meet strict criteria: be the champion of their respective league and have players aged under 20, born after January 1, 2005, affiliated with the club they represent », Explains the Malagasy Football Federation (FMF).
According to the national body, “ The organization of the U20 National Championship aims to raise the level of youth football, prepare the next generation of the national A team and promote competition at a young age. The teams’ performances during this championship will also help select participants for the 2024 COSAFA U20 international tournament. “. The FMF also expressed its full support for this initiative, highlighting its essential role in the future development of Malagasy football. By encouraging the active participation of all clubs, the FMF hopes to see new talents emerge, ready to represent Madagascar on the international stage.
