Two years have passed since Gabriel arrived in La Moneda with the FA-AD and also protected by the heirs of the agreement.
The issue is knowing if the FA has any political capital left to continue supporting the necessary announcements proclaimed during the campaign, and previously announced from the streets in those notable battles against profit. In that decade the right trembled, its famous schools, its health machines, true old toys born to work as coin slot machines. The forty-year-old marked cards of the AFP are already on the ground, and since the failure they are asking their employees in parliament to save them.
Years of shouting NO+AFP simply to be able to live with dignity. Nothing.
It is not possible to deny that young and transformative impetus, that fair questioning of the neoliberal model. Worthy and correct were the banners against corruption in that dark period of illegal financing of politics, where very few were saved. The threats sustained were harsh and armored by the consequence of the newcomers. It is not possible to sit next to the corrupt, they said, to those who did nothing for Chile for thirty years. They signed it.
The new ones in their journey from the street to the congress also left their own dead, abandoning their organizations that raised them for just reasons. The historic Fech no longer causes fear in the academy, the Confech is simply a bell with a leaf under its arm passing through while still alive. They arrived without a tie and a little vain too, knowing that politics had already been established with their journey and fought battles against their adversaries.
The current government was installed with political capital built with new proposals, but with the legacy of the battles waged by social, political and human rights organizations that come from much earlier, work carried out from the left.
Copper is already nationalized, now the battle is for lithium.
Deputy Winter does not commit a political sin when he affirms that there has been an ideological weakening in the government. He lowered his accusing finger against the system and the agreements are objectives that possibly once reached are the same. Social justice is not a trivial matter in serious politics, it is the mother of all battles to be won. It is not enough to declaim before the great majorities that you are a socialist, if the battle against your adversaries is the acceptance of insult, lies, contempt and that sick class hatred.
In the current political battle that is in the negotiations market, it is the program on offer, or the ideological pillars that support it. It is proven that the current project praised by the right does not respond to the great demands and urgencies of millions of Chileans. They are on the side of low salaries, individual savings to reach old age, paying for health to continue living, and segmented education for a country where the rich few and the poor coexist.
In the current political reality it is a mistake to deliver everything written on the street and in the public square to turn it into an element of exchange to show that something is gained, and that the right is also willing to show its social sensitivity. The FA was born with its profile driven by an urgent need for profound changes, or the steps to advance in issues such as inviting the establishment of a new model of economic, political and social development, where social organizations are the ones that orderly implement the achievements achieved.
That call has not been heard and it is essential to do so. Silence paves the desire of the right to become the government again.
The call to make the FA the largest party in Chile makes no sense if it forgets to incorporate social organizations as protagonists. Nothing will have been learned from the art of politics if the right is not able to be installed on the wall of history as Francisco Vidal puts it. The task is to leave them naked with their obtuse denials to make a better country.
Let the people see them in their entirety, from their many corrupt mayors and worshipers of golden calves.
The right has no complexes.
They kneel among themselves as UDI/RN/EVOPOLI/AMARILLOS/PDC and others did before the Republicans in their failed constitutional project that the people rejected. You have to save that photo, they act as one, they sing together, they wear ties and they vote the same. The right forgot the beating they received and the winners kept the numbers in some drawer on the second floor.
Progress has been made and the forty hours is an unappealable triumph. A decent minimum wage that the right voted against. The president is not an administrator, he is the president who spoke to a hopeful people. That he beat the right and its Republican extreme, that force continues to demand the promised changes tirelessly. And if agreements are not reached for major issues then we must return to the people exercising their will. When parliament is not capable of speeding up its work for the dedicated people, let the public square provide the necessary strength.
The loss of political capital of the president and the parties in government does not constitute the defeat of the popular movement, that is another matter.
