Burial of four people of the same family, including three sisters and a brother-in-law, have been completed in a road accident in Gopalganj.
Two sisters Nasima Begum (62), Asma Begum (56) and their sister Komal Begum (75) were buried in the family graveyard on Wednesday (March 20) around 10:30 p.m.
The body of another sister Salma Begum (58) was buried at her husband’s house in Gopalganj. The three deceased sisters are the daughters of deceased Kazi Abdul Hamid of the same village.
According to family and local sources, on Wednesday morning Kazi Humayun Kabir along with his wife Komal Begum, sister Nasima Begum, Asma Begum, Salma Begum rented a microbus from Dhaka and left for their home in Dasar, Madaripur. On the way, there was a head-on collision with a Global Transport bus coming from the opposite direction in Chagalchira area of Muksudpur Upazila of Gopalganj on the Dhaka-Barisal highway. Four female passengers and the driver of the microbus were killed on the spot.

Four others were injured in the incident. The injured were Kazi Humayun Kabir, Khairul Alam Kazi and Nazma Begum. Another is a bus passenger. Among the injured, Kazi Humayun Kabir and Nazma Begum were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Wednesday.
The deceased’s nephew Kazi Kajal said, ‘I have five cousins. I can’t accept that three uncles and one aunt will die like this. It is very difficult to accept such a great grief. I demand that the driver of the killer bus be brought under the law.
Another nephew Kazi Asad told Jago News, ‘The bodies of my cousins Nasima Begum and Asma Begum and aunt Komal Begum were brought to their village home in Gopalpur on Wednesday evening. They were buried in the family cemetery after the funeral at night. Another daughter-in-law, Salma Begum, has been buried in the municipal area of her in-laws’ Gopalganj.’
Neighbor Sabuj Hossain said that the death of four people from the same family is very painful. In this incident, the whole village is in mourning.
Kazi Poli, the daughter of the deceased Komal Begum, said, ‘Mother goes to the village house for family work. Was supposed to return from two days. But he did not come back. It is difficult for us to accept the death of our mother.’
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dasar Police Station Shafiqul Islam said that the death of four members of the same family in a road accident is very sad. I learned that three of the victims were buried in their village homes.
