Two people including a child died due to lightning –

Two people, including a child, died in Mymensingh due to lightning. Two cows died at the same time.

The incident took place at noon on Saturday (May 31) in Kamalpur village of Dakshin Lamkain of Panchbagh union of Pagla police station of Gafargaon upazila and Moazzempur union of Nandail upazila.

The deceased are Md. Kari of South Lamkain village of Panchbagh Union. Hazrat Ali’s son Sohag Mia (32) and son of Mohammad Hazrat Ali of Kamalpur village of Moazzempur union of Nandail upazila. Saidul Haque (12). Meanwhile, Sohag Mia used to raise cows along with farming.

According to the police and local sources, Sohag Mia went to the Brahmaputra river pasture in South Lamkain village to feed the cows like every day. He was returning home with a cow and a calf around 1:30 p.m. when a sudden thunderstorm started with a drizzle of rain. Sohag died on the spot. Meanwhile, two cows also died.

On the other hand, at the same time, the child Saidul Haque was playing in the drizzle near the house. At that time, he became unconscious due to lightning. Later, the family members took him to Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Pagla Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Ferdous Alam and OC Anwar Hossain confirmed the incident.
