The population of Anjozorobe is once again plunged into horror as the violence of the dahalo, these armed bandits, continues to rage ruthlessly. In a recent incident in Fieferana Atsimo, Marovazaha commune, Anjozorobe district, two people were tragically killed in a brutal attack by dozens of heavily armed dahalo.
On Monday evening, between 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., the calm of Fieferana Atsimo was shattered by shots in the air as the bandits invaded the village, sowing terror among the residents. Two individuals were shot and unfortunately died from their injuries. But the dahalo didn’t stop there, kidnapping three more people before disappearing into the darkness.
Faced with this escalation of violence, terrified residents appealed for help to the police, who quickly reacted by launching into a frantic chase. Despite their efforts, the dahalo and their hostages remain untraceable, plunging families into anguish and uncertainty.
This tragedy comes barely a week after another fokontany in Anjozorobe, Ambohimamory, was the scene of an equally cruel act. Two hostages were coldly executed by their captors, while three children and two adults were kidnapped, leaving devastated families behind.
The ruthless kidnappers demanded exorbitant ransoms, plunging the victims’ loved ones into a whirlwind of anguish. And now, as the community mourns these losses, the kidnappers have made death threats against the remaining hostages, making the already desperate situation even worse.
In this context of terror and despair, the population of Anjozorobe wonders why such atrocities persist and why measures to end them are not more effectively implemented. The police, although fully engaged in the investigation, call for the collaboration of all to fight against this scourge which continues to haunt the region, leaving behind a wake of pain and trauma.
While the families of the victims beg for help from the authorities and the population to save their loved ones, the community of Anjozorobe remains waiting for an answer to this burning question: until when will this terror continue- she to reign, and what must be done to stop her?
