Two children died after falling into a pond in Thakurgaon. Cousins about the victims.
The accident took place in Chandipur village of Prajeya Union of Sadar Upazila around 3 pm on Thursday (March 21).
Prajeya Union Parishad Chairman Raich Uddin Saju and Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) ABM Feroze confirmed the matter to Jago News.
The deceased are Raju (12), son of Razzak of Chandipur village. He is a 7th class student of Chandipur High School.
The other is a child named Kausar (7), son of Idris Ali of the same village.
According to local sources, Kausar and his brother Naeem went to pick plums at the pond near the house around 3 pm on Thursday. At one point Kausar fell into the nearby pond. Later Naeem called his cousin Kausar. Kausar himself drowns while trying to rescue Raju. At one point, the family members took them unconscious to the Thakurgaon General Hospital after searching for a long time. The doctor on duty declared them dead.
Rakibul Alam, resident medical officer of the hospital, said that the two children died before being brought to the hospital.
Neighbor of the deceased, Mustafa said, the family is very saddened by the loss of two sons. We are also very sad to see the cries of the relatives of the two children.
