Two Asteroids Passed Earth Today

JAKARTA – Two medium-sized asteroids crossed Earth today, Monday (25/3/2024). The first asteroid to pass was 2021 CF6 with a diameter of around 49 meters.

This asteroid will pass Earth at 16.51 WIB. Based on data from NASA, the asteroid 2021 CF6 does not pose a danger to Earth. The closest distance to Earth will be 42,440 kilometers, or 107 times the distance of the Moon to Earth. This distance is considered quite safe and the asteroid will not collide with Earth.

Asteroid 2021 CF6 is an Apollo class asteroid. This asteroid is the remaining rock from the formation of the solar system around 4.6 billion years ago.

Apart from 2021 CF6, there is one other asteroid that will also pass by Earth today. Namely, asteroid 2024 EC4 with a diameter of 44 meters.

Although track two asteroid This is considered safe and does not harm Earth, but is a reminder of the importance of planetary defense research and development to protect Earth from asteroids in the future.
