The man who attempted to rob professional footballer Dusan Tadic has been sentenced to twelve months in prison. Mohamed F. (20) denied wanting to rob the former Ajax player, but the court found it proven that he wanted to steal Tadic’s watch.
On the night of July 27-28, 2022, the then Ajax player Tadic was met near his home in Amsterdam. When he saw two men in helmets coming towards him, he ran away.
The two men gave chase on a scooter and trapped Tadic. One of them grabbed the professional footballer by the throat from behind. Tadic managed to escape after a scuffle and took refuge in a hotel.
Tadic, who currently plays for Fenerbahçe, was slightly injured. The thieves took nothing. They were probably looking for the victim’s expensive watch.
GPS tracker found on Tadic’s car
According to the Public Prosecutor everything suggests a robbery. For example, a sound beacon was found on Tadic’s car. This is a GPS tracker that can track the location of a car.
Surveillance camera images show the two men waiting for Tadic for more than half an hour. The police recognized F. on those images.
The Prosecutor’s Office asked F. for one year in prison. The judge accepted this request as punishment.
The co-investigator was jailed for six months in February last year for public violence. The Prosecutor’s Office then also requested twelve months’ imprisonment. The appeal in that case is still pending.
